Into Africa and Beyond

From April 17–20, 2025, more than 600 Navigators and partners from 37 nations gathered in Kigali, Rwanda, for a historic moment in the life of the Africa Navigators: the IA-25 All Africa Conference. What took place was more than a conference—it was a Spirit-filled convergence of generations, cultures, languages, and callings. It was a glimpse of what the future of the Gospel in Africa can and will look like: deeply rooted in faith, diverse in expression, and united in purpose.

The Conference marked the midpoint of the Africa Navigators ten-year Faith Direction (2021–2030). With hearts full of thanksgiving and eyes lifted to what lies ahead, the IA-25 conference unfolded under three banners: Celebrate, Stretch & Press On, and Together. These themes formed the backbone of the four-day event and gave voice to what God is doing across a continent that is young, vibrant, and full of potential for Gospel advance.

A Gathering of Grace and Generations

For many attendees, just arriving in Kigali felt like a miracle. Marketplace workers, Gospel laborers, and alongsiders from across the continent journeyed by plane, car, and bus to be part of something greater than themselves. Many came through the generosity of donors who made travel and participation possible for those who couldn’t otherwise afford it.

Young people played a central role. Forty-five volunteers—many in their early twenties—served with joy and tireless energy. More than half of the attendees were what Navigators call CIPs (Conventional Income Persons)—ordinary men and women from all walks of life, living integrated lives in their workplaces as witnesses for Christ. This cross-section of generations and vocations reflected the heart of The Navigators Calling: whole-life discipleship for ordinary people, empowered to live and disciple among the lost.

The Conference was also a celebration of God’s faithfulness. Over the last five years, the Africa Navigators have seen God open ministry in new cities, grow national ministries, and deepen communities of laborers. Testimonies from across the continent gave voice to how the Gospel is transforming lives—not only in churches, but in homes, campuses, villages, and business sectors.

Stretching Into Mission

While the atmosphere was full of joy, the message was one of holy urgency. Africa is the youngest continent in the world and increasingly urban. Many regions remain unreached. Issues of injustice, orality, FOCUS influence, and poverty cannot be ignored. The plenary sessions, led entirely by African speakers, called participants to wrestle with these realities and reimagine what it means to labor in a changing Africa.

The call to missions was central. In one session, participants were invited to respond to God’s voice—echoing the cry of Isaiah 6:8: “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” At least 15 people answered by committing to be sent to new mission fields. More than 100 others pledged monthly financial support for African missionaries. Over $26,000 of the needed $500,000 was given or pledged on the spot, fueling the vision to recruit 100 missionaries and open 10 new countries in the next five years.

One unique initiative, known as the Operation $2 Campaign, was highlighted as a creative and culturally relevant way to foster participation in missions. This campaign allows every Navigator staff member and friends within their networks, regardless of economic status, to give just $2 a month toward sending missionaries—an act of ownership and unity, not just contribution.

Pressing On Together

Unity was a striking feature of IA-25. Delegates from Francophone, Anglophone, Lusophone, and Arabic-speaking regions worshiped side by side, translating for one another and building relationships across national and linguistic barriers. This was not just a conference—it was a continental family reunion.

A particularly powerful moment came during an interactive ministry-opportunity exhibition session, where booths represented different unreached people groups. Participants rotated in groups, learning about specific regions and pausing to pray for those who have never heard the Gospel. The room was full of reverence and resolve—faith being kindled into action.

Our time together also emphasized climates of grace within our leadership and community life. By fostering space for vulnerability, joy, and collaboration, IA-25 became a reflection of the kind of culture The Navigators in Africa seek to embody: one where people are known, encouraged, and sent out with strength.

The Best Is Yet to Come

What took place in Kigali is a testimony to what happens when faith is met with obedience. It was the Lord’s doing—and it is marvelous in our eyes. As we look ahead to the second half of our Faith Direction, we move forward with renewed hope and courage, trusting that He who calls us is faithful—and He will surely do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

Let the nations rejoice.
