God is moving in Burkina Faso through faithful Navigators like Sako Ibrahim. Worldwide spoke with him about how his journey began, how ministry is multiplying in both his village and his university, and how we can pray alongside him.
WW: How did you come to know Christ?
SI: My story begins in my home village of Nako, about 500km from Ouagadougou. In 2012, my uncle Yougma invited me to study the Bible with him. We used the “Assurances in Christ” study, and those meetings opened my eyes. For the first time, I began to understand who I was in Christ—not just in theory, but in a way that touched my heart. Even after my uncle was reposted to another area, the desire to keep learning stayed with me. I knew I had to continue.
WW: How did the Lord grow you spiritually and shape the next steps of your journey?
SI: I kept going on my own—finishing one brochure and asking for the next. As I grew, I began sharing the Gospel in nearby villages. A few people responded, and we formed a small Bible study group. We built a simple shed where we could meet, and today that small beginning has become a fellowship of more than 120 believers.
WW: What kind of work has the Lord called you to?
SI: The group in Nako continued the studies, and I started a new Bible study at the university. Through Navigators D4D training, I also learned practical skills like making soap and ointment, which helps me support my studies, my parents, and some of the students I disciple. With help from members and volunteers, we were able to build a church structure in Nako, now led by a pastor from a nearby area.
WW: What challenges are you facing now, and how can we pray with you?
SI: Some young people experience opposition when they want to join the fellowship. Many students in our university group have parents who are internally displaced, which makes life difficult for them. Even so, we try to care for one another and share what we have. Please pray for the disciples in Nako to stay rooted in their faith, for the university ministry to keep growing and multiplying, and for greater security in our country.
